FtBCon is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, age, or race. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexualizing language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference at the discretion of the conference organizers.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, or race, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing images, sustained disruption of talks or discussion, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
Discussion or images related to sex, pornography, discriminatory language, or similar is welcome if it meets all of the following criteria: (a) it is necessary to the topic of discussion and no alternative exists, (b) it is presented in a respectful manner, especially towards women and LGBTQIA people, (c) attendees are warned in advance in the program and respectfully given ample warning and opportunity to leave beforehand. This exception specifically does not allow use of gratuitous sexual images as attention-getting devices or unnecessary examples.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or banning. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. An attempt to have an innocent person removed from the convention by falsely accusing them of harassment will be itself treated as an act of harassment and will be dealt with appropriately.
